Song of the day: The Western Echoes

Song of the day (4/18/2010):
The Western Echoes - I Got No Reason to Quit

Another mysterious thrift store find. The liner notes imply that The Western Echoes were from somewhere in the Chicago suburbs (Halfday or Libertyville). They were "discovered" by Hugh X. Lewis from Safari Records out of Nashville.

The record this track is from,
"...From Us To You...", which was released in 1976. A version of the song, which was written by Dean Holloway, would appear on Willie Nelson & Merle Haggard's no. 1 selling Pancho & Lefty.

The record is filled with cover songs. The performance of them is pretty limp, but the quality of their musicianship does manage to break through to some degree.

All in all, a pretty decent find.
