Song of the day: Shirley Gunter

Song of the day (4/11/2010):
Shirley Gunter - Stuck Up

Lot of stuff to tackle today, so this is going to be a quick one.

Stuck Up is a nice sunshiney tune, originally released on the Tangerine label in 1965.

Overview of Shirley Tuner's career

  • Born in 1934.
  • Started recording for her brother's Flair label in 1953.
  • Joined The Four Queens in 1954 ("From all reports, they seem to have been the first all-girl doo-wop group; Etta James has called them "the first female group where all the girls could sing.")
  • Joined The Flairs, with her brother a few years later.
  • "Officially" retired from music in 1958.
  • Still alive, living in Las Vegas. So much for retirement, eh?!
Anyway, there's a bit more info on her online. Go read it!
