Song of the day: Hopkirk and Lee

Song of the day (3/29/2010):
Hopkirk & Lee - A Love Like Ivy

In 1998, Hopkirk & Lee came out of nowhere. They released a single, Beneath the Apple Tree, which got a lot of people talking. Then they quietly disbanded.

Information about them was scarce, even at the time. They were largely a mystery. And they did exactly the right thing by evaporating into the same obscurity in death that they were born into. Their legacy is 4 great song. No clutter, no cringes. Something something wonderfully lasting.

All pop music should be this way.

You can download the full single on the Consolation Prize blog. Please do.
